Who We Are
Rising rents, an IPO only culture, and the gentrification driven loss of charm in San Francisco and Oakland got us looking elsewhere.
We are Craig and Vera, or CraVe for short! Vera DeVera is an experienced marketer and event planner, and veteran of the "popup" or underground dining scene, starting with Oakland's Ghetto Gourmet with Jeremy Townsend, and later, Canvas Underground with Peter Jackson. Unlike today's popups that happen in the same venue with different chefs, she prefers producing events in revolving places you wouldn't expect -- from a parking lot, master bedroom, pier, to a firehouse!
Craig Dalyrmple is a veteran in social media and online community management. He is a passionate home cook who loves to veganize Midwestern comfort food.
Together, we started CraVe Kitchen to celebrate food and creating community.
We moved here without friends, jobs, or a home. Michigan is Craig's home. Vera has family here. We aren't new pioneers who think we are here to save Detroit. We are just two people who belong here.
Part of celebrating that is celebrating food and proving that you don't have to live on either coast to enjoy a great meal.
The food culture in Detroit is thriving and we are excited to bring what we have to the table. That includes producing our own events, and also collaborating with up and coming chefs and helping them promote their culinary point of view.
We are looking to work with with line cooks, sous chefs, and anyone who's passionate about cooking and excellent ingredients. We are also looking to partner with hosts, who would like to open their doors to fellow food enthusiasts and the opportunity to network.
